2005-11-14 - 9:10 p.m. Tim and Dawn Work has been kinda weird lately. We have been pretty busy lately. However, I got all caught up on Sunday and I virtually had nothing on my desk on Monday morning. That was the first time that's ever happened. It was rather nice and allowed me the opportunity to take it easy on Monday morning until the mail arrived around midday. However, there is a girl I work with who seems to be acting kinda strange toward me lately. I don't understand her. She has a boyfriend that she lives with. They've been going out for three years. But, she is always complaining about him and she says that she might break up with him. She tells me I'm her boyfriend at work. She told me she bought me a Christmas present. She stops at my desk quite a bit to talk. I told her today I had to get bus tickets at lunch and she offered to go with me to get them. And when I was at Aaron's desk late in the day, I leaned up against the cubie with my arm stretched out while checking something on his computer. She came over and she propped her head on my arm, resting it there for a few seconds. A couple of weeks ago she drove to my car on her way home. But, that was more or less to see my new car, so I'll let that one slide. She asked me to help plan on birthday outing, which is in a few weeks. It sounds like her boyfriend isn't going out with her that weekend. She tells me if he doesn't propose within a year she's marrying me. Just joking of course. I mean, yes, she said that, but she was laughing as she said it. I have a feeling that I'm not really interested in her other than as friends. I don't think we'd make a good couple, if she has any intentions of that. She's cute, sweet, smart, and funny, but I just don't think it would work. She told me she works for the Republican Party. That's not a deal breaker by any means and I can't believe I'd turn someone down solely based upon political leanings (unless you're zealous about it like Ann Coulter, which this girl certainly is not towards me), but it sure is a tough sell to your's truly. And I could be totally off base. Maybe she just is pleased as punch to be friends and I'm just completely misreading the situation. I just find it interesting, that's all. But, I'm not going to lose sleep over it. The situation sort of reminds of the BBC version of The Office, except I'm not in love and I have no idea what her deal is. So, maybe it isn't, but we'll pretend it is for the sake of argument because I love that show. Oh, and for those of who don't know, the Neon died a month ago today, after 8 years and 178,140 miles. The head gasket went, which would cost $900 to repair. I had intended to do a whole entry on the Neon, but time did not permit. But, I just would like to say that the Neon will be sorely missed. It was a trooper. The Neon traveled all over the U.S. and Canada, from Daytona Beach to Montreal to Portland and through the Canadian Rockies. It survived a major accident, numerous scratches, a Marine puking out its passenger side window at 55 miles per hour and three break-ins. Confusing drivers with the Harvard/Yale stickers on the window, making them scratch there heads as to where my loyalties lie in the Ivy League, will be something that, I feel, will remain a tradition only common to the Neon. There are plenty of stories about the Neon, but there are all too numerous to be told here. I want you to remember the Neon in your own. We may no longer have the Neon physically, but the Neon will live in our hearts and minds long after all of her sisters have quit. Hopefully, the Neon will get a new lease on life. The Neon was donated to the Purple Heart, which in turn might fix it up and sell it. So, possible in the future we'll see the Neon rolling down our nation's highways, once again confusing more and more drivers about the whole Harvard/Yale debacle. And if you're wondering what I purchased instead... it's a 2002 Jetta. From here on out, it will be known as "The Pagoda." The Pagoda is a well known character in Wes Anderson fan circles and was featured in the movie "The Royal Tenebaums." I came up with the name after watch the movie with Karlie for the first time in Eau Claire, Wisconsin back in 2003. I vowed to Karlie that my next car would be known as The Pagoda in honor of this beloved character. So, in honor of The Pagoda, the Jetta will be named. That's all for now. So, good day.
